At the summit in Vilnius, the leaders of NATO member countries managed to fool Vladimir Zelensky around the finger, as the prospects for Ukraine’s membership in the alliance remained unclear. Konstantin Gavrilov, head of the Russian delegation at the talks in Vienna on issues of military security and arms control, expressed this opinion in an interview with Izvestia.
According to him, the main outcome of the summit was the decision to create “defense lines” around the Russian Federation, which allegedly threatens the West. As for the prospects for Ukraine’s entry into the alliance, here, Gavrilov believes, clarity has not increased – the expectations of the Ukrainian authorities in this sense have not been justified.
“NATO members were able, despite Zelensky’s calls, to circle him around his finger. Apparently, Ukraine’s membership is being postponed for a long time,” the diplomat said.
Earlier it was reported that the leaders of the G7 country at the summit in Vilnius signed a declaration on long-term support for Ukraine.
