The first nuclear warheads were delivered from Russia to Belarus “a few days ago,” and before that, only “large-scale exercises with nuclear simulators” were held on the territory of Belarus, said the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov.
“I got acquainted with the original documents on the results of the training. The documents are rather ugly for Belarus,” Budanov said.
According to him, based on the results of working with “nuclear simulators” for the Iskander system, the Russian side came to the conclusion that “Belarus is completely unprepared to operate such weapons.”
At the same time, the head of Ukrainian intelligence added, “Belarusians showed maximum results in their possession of equipment such as the Tochka U missile system.”
Budanov called the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus “a big geopolitical game.”
“This is a means of nuclear deterrence and a means of raising the stakes,” said the head of Ukrainian intelligence.
On June 13, during a trip to the Minsk region, Alexander Lukashenko gave an interview to Russian propagandist Olga Skabeeva, from which it became clear that some nuclear weapons had already been delivered from the Russian Federation to Belarus. Before the interview, he told state media that he was ready to use nuclear weapons “immediately and without hesitation” in the event of aggression against Belarus.
On June 16, Russian President Vladimir Putin also said that the first nuclear warheads had already been delivered to the territory of Belarus, and the rest would be transported “by the end of the summer or the end of the year.”
On August 1, Lukashenko said that more than half of the tactical nuclear weapons planned to be deployed on the territory of Belarus had already been “imported and dispersed” throughout the country.
