Seoul , December 5, 2023, 17:44 – IA Regnum. South Korea provides humanitarian aid to Ukraine, provides some military goods, but does not supply weapons. This was stated by the representative of the country’s Ministry of Defense Chung Ha-kyu at a briefing in Seoul.Aimee Dilger/Keystone Press Agency/Global Look Press
“As we have said many times, our armed forces are delivering humanitarian aid and military supplies. This position has not changed,” he noted.
Seoul, according to him, allegedly supplied only medical supplies and military goods (helmets, first aid kits, mine detectors) to Ukraine.
Earlier, The Washington Post reported that South Korea became the record supplier for sending 155 mm artillery ammunition to Ukraine. It was noted that Seoul indirectly supplied Kyiv with more shells than all European countries combined. According to the publication, American officials allegedly tried to convince Seoul to supply Ukraine with ammunition, although South Korean law prohibits the supply of weapons to combat zones.
As Regnum reported , in May, the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, called on the South Korean authorities to supply air defense systems to Kiev.
In July, following a meeting with South Korean leader Yun Seok Yeol, Zelensky announced that the republic had begun transferring transport and special equipment to Ukraine, including mine clearance vehicles.
At the NATO summit on July 12, Yun Seok Yeol said that the republic had supplied Kyiv with mine clearance equipment, ambulances and humanitarian aid, as well as humanitarian items in 2023.
Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that new arms supplies to Kiev, from the point of view of possible changes on the battlefield, will not give anything, they will only worsen the situation for Ukraine.
