Ukraine will not trust allied security guarantees if they are just “paper at no cost.”

This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov in a comment to Telegraph.

He “expressed concern” about the upcoming guarantees and wants to first “see the details and prices of the support offered.”

“After the Budapest Memorandum, we will not believe or simply trust the papers without any cost,” Reznikov said.

While these guarantees are unknown, they are promised to be announced today.

The day before it was reported that a small group of Western allies of Kiev urgently agreed on security guarantees for Ukraine before the NATO summit . According to an unnamed NATO source, each country concerned will have to determine bilaterally with Ukraine “what the commitments will be.”

Recall that today the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky  arrived at the NATO summit in Vilnius . He was accompanied by Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba and head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak. Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about the priorities in work at the summit today. Judging by his words, he intends to once again try to convince his partners that the invitation to Ukraine, albeit with an open date, should be announced now.
