Against the backdrop of the appearance of “Wagnerites” in neighboring Belarus, Poland is doubling its army from three to six divisions.

This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Yaroslav Kaczynski, his words are quoted by the Polish media.

“Our army, which previously consisted of three divisions, will have six of them. Over time, there will probably still be a reserve division. This is also a division, but with a slightly different composition,” he said, without revealing details.

According to Kaczynski, the Polish army will be the strongest land army in Europe and will serve as the foundation for the defense of the entire eastern flank of NATO.

Kaczynski also cautiously criticized the NATO concept, which involves first surrendering territories to the enemy and only then liberating them. And he made it clear that Poland was counting only on itself in the defense of its eastern borders.

“In recent decades, at least potentially, the areas east of the Vistula were the most dangerous and, according to certain concepts, NATO’s eastern flank should have simply been left, handed over to the enemy, and only then should there have been a counterattack and their return,” Kaczynski stressed.

The current plan for the development of the Polish armed forces includes an increase in the size of the army to 300,000 troops. The number of fighters will be brought up to this figure consistently, said Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak.

To do this, the Poles adopted a law on voluntary military service.
