A 2-year-old boy died after his father shot him and then took his own life in Largo, Maryland, authorities say.
Sterling Glover Petty, of Frederick, Maryland, was the toddler who died, Prince George’s County police said. Kenneth Petty, 38, of Suitland, is the suspect.
Officers responded to the 1200 block of Mercantile Lane at about 1 p.m. Sunday for a welfare check, police said. Officers found the man and child with gunshot wounds.
An investigation into the suspected murder-suicide is underway. Anyone with potentially relevant information is asked to contact police.
