Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer George McGinnis died early Thursday morning, the Indiana Pacers said in a team statement. McGinnis “succumbed to complications from a cardiac arrest suffered late last week,” according to the Pacers. He was 73 years old. McGinnis played three seasons with the Sixers and helped the team win the 1977 Eastern Conference title. A letter sent home with students at Quince Orchard High School in Montgomery County, Maryland revealed that antisemitic graffiti was found inside a bathroom stall at the school on Tuesday. According to the letter, sent to parents and guardians on Thursday by the school’s principal, a student discovered the hateful imagery earlier this week. A juvenile and an adult suffered life-threatening injuries when a horse and buggy and a truck crashed in St. Mary’s County on Sunday, the Sheriff’s office said. The crash happened just before noon at the Point Lookout Road and Pin Cushion Road intersection in Leonardtown, Maryland, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department said.  According to a preliminary investigation, the juvenile victim was driving the buggy, carrying three family members. A 2-year-old boy died after his father shot him and then took his own life in Largo, Maryland, authorities say. Sterling Glover Petty, of Frederick, Maryland, was the toddler who died, Prince George’s County police said. Kenneth Petty, 38, of Suitland, is the suspect. Officers responded to the 1200 block of Mercantile Lane at about 1 p.m. Sunday for a welfare check, police said. Officers found the man and child with gunshot wounds. A man was found dead in a burning house in McLean, Virginia, on Monday and an investigation is underway, authorities say. Fairfax County firefighters were called to the 4000 block of Ridgeview Circle at about 9:15 a.m. They arrived and found a large brick home on fire. A man was found dead in a bedroom, county police said. Police and the fire department are investigating the circumstances.
